Agriturismo in Maremma and the hospitality philosophy
L’agriturismo San Luigi rents out 3 cosy and beautifully furnished apartments and 2 independent triple rooms. The agriturismo stays open all year round, as in the Maremma every season has its own charm. San Luigi allows for a relaxing holiday in the middle of an uncontaminated natural environment where time still has a slower pace. An unforgettable holiday made of relaxtion, culture, art, nature, good eating and drinking in an enchanting environment. Being welcomed like friend by the owhers according to traditional country hospitality. At the end, the car boot full of wine, oil and cold cuts will make memories last longer.
The Farmhouse Products.
PODERE CERNAIA – The foundation of the estate dates back to the year 1864, when the army of the kingdom of Italy started to build horse stables on this property, which before belonged to the great duchy of Tuscany. The estate was called ‘Scuderia Cernaia’ (Scuderia = stables), and the name Cernaia is still found in today’s address of our farm. A big part of the land is used for the cultivation of cereals and fodder. That is Agriturismo San Luigi.
PODERE CETINA – The farm lies on the territory of the village Castiglione D’ Orcia in the area of mount Amiata; the Orcia valley lies to the west of the village, whilst the Maremma can be seen looking to the east. The farm is 49hectares: 25 hectares are used for the cultivation of cereals, 20 hectares are woodland and the rest is made up by 250 olive trees and a vineyard. This area is renown for its fabulous olive oil ´Extravergine IGP Toscano and for the wine of DOC Orcia.
We harvest fruits, vegetables and cereals according to season and sell them to small and big suppliers but also directly from the property.
OLIV OIL. 250 Olive trees produce the highly estimated extravergine olive oil called ‘IGP Toscano’.
WINE. Our Agriturismo lies on the ‘Strada Del Vino’ and we sell the wine of the cellar ‘Vini Di Maremma’ directly from the farm.
VEGETABLES. We sell fresh vegetables directly from the garden..
FRUITS. Plums, peaches, apricots, apples, pomegranate, grapes, nuts, figs, etc. We sell a variety of fresh fruit according to season.
CEREALS. We cultivate the high-quality variety Svevo, which we sell to Barilla.
FODDER. We cultivate the variety ‘erbamedica’, which is mainly used as fodder for horses or cattle.
LEGNA 20 hectares of wood allow us to sell firewood.
